Your investment and mine..

First off, I want to say a big Thank You, to all of my wonderful clients over the past year. You have made it possible for me to be able to do what I love, and I have learned so much from each and every shoot along the way. I have been lucky to have had the opportunity to photograph such beautiful newborns, children, weddings and families in my journey. I had no idea what to expect when I made the transition from shooting for myself, to shooting for you.

Over this period of time, I have made some necessary changes to my pricing in order to continue to offer quality work to my much appreciated clients. I value being able to offer my clients one to one service and want my clients to receive a very personal and unique experience for their session, that will distinguish myself, and my work from the typical mall or department store experience.

Your investment in unique Fine Art Portraits will be treasured for a life time. These images allow you to remember these moments in time in your child's life forever. There is a lot of time put into each session, outside of the actual time spent during your "sitting". I want to share with you, a basic idea of how much time and effort goes into each session, and some knowledge of the "behind the scenes" work I give each and every session booked.

Time Costs

*session prep time~ depending on location of shoot and ages of children, I spend approximately 30 minutes preparing for each shoot before your arrival. That allows for equipment checks and packing, scene set ups, props packed or prepared.

*1 1/2-3 hours spent in actual session (sometimes longer for those newborns).
*clean up after session (especially for newborns!)
*time spent uploading images to computer
*3-5 hours editing images to offer a unique and diverse gallery of carefully edited images
*1 hour printing reference prints, burning CD's, preparing complete packages

The average session takes approximately 6 hours just getting the images shot, uploaded, and edited.

Equipment Costs

A good quality professional camera with a selection of good quality lenses and digital storage mediums and computer set up can run from $10,000-$30,000 costs dependent on the photographer. Even though you can purchase a really good quality digital SLR for about $2100 there are still other costs related to photography. A good lens for portrait photography can run from $900 to $2500. A dependable computer system with software loaded for business and creative usage can run $2500 to $8000 dependent on the photographer.

Experience and Expertise of your Photographer

Having a good reputation costs time on the photographer’s part. Their expertise comes at a cost, their time learning their craft often requires travel and workshops to continue to stay up to date in current photography styles and trends, from the actual shooting, to the editing of the images afterward. A commitment to continue to offer unique, personalized work requires time, practice, continual learning, and patience.

My Investment in yours...

I have spent a considerable amount of time researching local pricing in order to come up with fair and very competitive model for the Thunder Bay area. I have decided to continue to offer the very popular CD of digital images, but being that I have moved from portfolio building to professional offering my services, I need to be able to charge for this service. My CD is still priced extremely reasonably and, for the month of October, is available for $50 off its regular price. I have also waived the minimum order requirement for the month of October as well.

I hope this sheds some light on why a hiring a professional photographer is a better investment for you than using a mall or department store's photography services. I am invested in making your experience special, your images unique, and my work something you will enjoy for a life time.

Thank you to all my past, present, and future clients!

I will be updating my blog as well as my Facebook with all Specials and Offers running in the next few months!
